It’s no a secret that the Island of Mindoro has some of the best beaches and dive spots in all of the Philippines. While we enjoyed basking in the sun on all the popular beaches near Puerto Galera, we discovered a few hidden gems off the beaten path. Tamaraw Falls was one of them.
We decided to rent a motorcycle for the day and head to a different side of the Island called Barangay Villaflor. This small village is only 30 minutes from all the tourist hotspots and is home to the Tamaraw Falls – named after the Dwarf Buffalos that are native to Mindoro. This waterfall stands 423ft (128.3m) tall and can be seen right off the main road. Yes, this excursion is FREE! There are a series of small waterfalls that you can see for a nominal fee of 30php per head. In addition, you will also find a resort, a natural water swimming pool, picnic area and restaurant on the premises. Here, you can also take in spectacular mountain views!
