Nasugbu Beach – The Perfect Place for a Family Outing
My family and I had the perfect day at Munting Buhangin Beach Camp, an area in Nasugbu Batangas Philippines. Going on this trip was truly eye opening. After all, I hadn’t seen some of these relatives in over 23 years. It made me wish that I could forever be in two places at once – California & the Philippines!
Since I only had a few weeks with my close family in Cabuyao Laguna, I wanted to make the most of it. I decided to surprise my family with a trip to Batangas. While my family lives on an island, some of them had never been to the beach! For this reason and truth, I decided to board everyone on a jeepney for a trip to Batangas Beach. If you don’t know what a jeepney is, Jeepneys are one of the most popular means of public transportation in the Philippines – typically crowded seating with colorful decor, which have become a ubiquitous symbol of Philippine culture. Over 20 of us packed into one Jeepney at 5am and set out on a 2 hour journey to Batangas.
On the way, we stopped by for a healthy snack at a local fruit shack off the side of the road. Note: The Philippines has some of the world’s BEST fruit. Try it to believe it. The mangos and papayas are my favorite.
(My niece Kendra laughing on our drive up)
(Apparently my uncle brought a frog on the bus, eeek)
(We brought the family dog along )

When we arrived in Batangas, we took outriggers (Philippine boats) to Munting Buhangin, a very quiet and remote beach.
(The Baterisna Clan)
(One of these actually bit my foot. I had to sit in the water for 30+ minutes before I had movement in my foot, true story)
(Beach dining the Filipino Way. My aunts prepared enough food to feed the island!)
(Fresh fish, shrimp, crab, pork, and other dishes)
(Butterfly in the Sand)
All in all, Munting Buhangin Beach Camp had a lot to offer – a peaceful beach front, calm scenery, warm water and beautiful landscapes. It was the perfect place for a family outing. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
