In my my early twenties, I frequented LA, for different reasons than I do now. I looked forward to getaways with my girls on the weekends. This usually entailed club hopping on Saturdays and waking up to bottomless Mimosas on Sunday Sunday. LA was a hot spot for me and still is, just in a much different way. Fast forward six years and its cliche to say, nevertheless true, my energy level is just not the same. Thank goodness Hollywood is timeless.
The truth is, I’ve grown to love sunrises just as much as sunsets. I have my best friend and travel partner (my husband), I enjoy a brunch mimosa just as much as an evening apple martini and breakfasts on rooftops over bottle popping at midnight. Every now & again, when there is music, I still know how to turn it up.
A Hotel Wilshire Los Angeles Review
A few weekends ago, we decided to venture out to Los Angeles to hit up the LACMA museum, visit with friends and enjoy a nice rooftop pool somewhere. We had been to well known LA hotels such as the Mondrian, the Roosevelt, the W and the Andaz to name a few. This time, we wanted something different and a little more tame. I google searched rooftops in Los Angeles Miracle Mile area. We stumbled upon a boutique hotel called the Wilshire. Seeing that it was Kimpton Hotel, we were sold. The Kimpton has a great reputation for renowned service and unique style. I knew it was worth checking out.
A Luxury Boutique Hotel in Los Angeles
I love staying in boutique hotels as long as they have a pool and a great location. This isn’t always the case, but at the Hotel Wilshire, you will be pleasingly surprised at all it has to offer. Here is a hotel that is between Hollywood and Beverly Hills, conveniently located steps from LACMA and it houses one of the hottest rooftops in Los Angeles. I booked this hotel on Hotels.com and got a killer deal. I also love booking through this site because it offers you a free hotel for every 10 booked! Being that my husband and I are travel junkies, that added perk comes in handy and saves us a pretty penny. While the Hotel Wilshire is not known for being a grand hotel, it definitely is a luxurious one and has it’s competitive edge – like having one of the best rooftops in town!
If you are looking for a posch place to stay in LA, this may be the spot. It’s the perfect place to experience West Coast art and culture, the LA night glitz and immaculate California sunrises on the rooftop. It’s also just a champagne cork’s pop from shopping at the Grove, the La Brea Tar Pits, Peterson’s Automotive, LACMA and more. Did I mention they have a daily and FREE wine happy hour?
” Ready to kick up your heels and jump into LA’s heady nightlife? You’re a two-song ride away from the Sunset Strip. Planning some serious retail therapy? Shopping meccas like The Grove and the chic boutiques of Robertson Blvd and West Third Street beckon from blocks away. A culture vulture? You’re in luck, as nearby Museum Row offers a treasure trove of discoveries ranging from classic cars at the Petersen Automotive Museum to Impressionist art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Whatever you choose, our attentive Kimpton staff is on hand to help make your LA stay a masterpiece. When you stay at our Beverly Hills hotel, Los Angeles in all it’s glory is waiting right outside your door.”
It will feel quite small when you walk in, but the hotel is impressive with it’s modern decor and friendly staff. Be sure to enjoy cucumber lemon water in the lounge and check out their free bike rentals while you are waiting to be checked in.
Don’t forget to look up at the artsy ceiling. This lights up beautifully at night.
The best part? We were able to bring this little one with us. It’s a pet friendly hotel!
Thirsty? Enjoy a FREE happy hour daily on the second floor lounge.
The Hotel Wilshire Los Angeles Rooftop
My absolute favorite part of this hotel is the rooftop. In the distance you can catch a glimpse of the Hollywood sign with 360 degree view of Hollywood, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. While the pool is quite small, there is an ambiance that you cannot pass up. The outer rim of the rooftop deck is lined with tables and lounge chairs, perfect for socializing and enjoying the California Sun. The rooftop bar serves drinks and food from 6:30am – 11:00pm (Sunday through Thursday) and 6:30am – 1:00am (Friday – Saturday). I’d recommend making a reservation if you’d like to eat as the tables fill up fast!
A perfect LA morning on the rooftop, brunch & mimosas…
Breakfast, lunch or dinner on the rooftop…
A room well equipped with comfy beds, modern decor, a fully stocked mini bar, large tub / bathroom, animal print bath robes & a TV
Our favorite perk was that the hotel was pet friendly. We try to bring this lil one whenever we can…
I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope we inspired you to check out the Hotel Wilshire. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post on the on the LACMA museum!
