Checking into the Clarendon in Phoenix Arizona
Phoenix Arizona is only a 4 hour drive from our home in Palm Springs California, so we decided to take a road trip to see what this city was all about. Aside from having one of the largest party schools in the nation, there really wasn’t much else we knew about Phoenix.
On our ride there, we decided to book a super trendy boutique hotel called the Clarendon Hotel & Spa. Our selling point was the modest price, great reviews, the amazing photos of the pool + it was pet friendly (double plus). Additionally, the hotel offered a rooftop, on-site restaurant/bar & it was only a few miles from it’s buzzing downtown.
Tip: If you book directly through their website, they offer a $10.00 voucher pp (valid 7am – 10am) toward Breakfast at Cafe Tranquilo.
Our check-in was super easy & the staff was very friendly. They provided us our breakfast vouchers & even provided us an early check-in & pool view. While we booked their smaller deluxe room, it didn’t cease to impress us. It was such a colorful & artistic room + it had everything we needed:
- A comfortable king bed
- Safe – (For all you travel bloggers, the safe is large enough for wide laptops)
- Desk & Dresser
- Coffee maker
- Bath robes
- Ironing board / Iron
- & a fun reading book – “The Teaching of Buddha”
The Oasis Pool + Cabanas
This may very well be one of the best pools in Phoenix. Trevor & I really enjoyed sipping on cocktails poolside, reading a book in the cabanas, swimming laps in the pool & conversing with other travelers while soaking in the hot tub. While we wanted to see all of Phoenix, it was hard to leave the hotel. The hotel pool was definitely a major selling point for us.
Here’s all the Oasis Pool has to offer:
- Silver-coated water wall
- Stylish seating in chaise lounges, pool beds, sofas, in-pool and in-spa social areas
- Six outdoor cabanas
- V.I.P. indoor cabanas with 47″ flat screens
- 50 person Hydro Spa
- Underwater speakers
- 24K Gold and Platinum tile accents
The bar, located inside Cafe Tranquilo, is superb. Why? HAPPY HOUR! Enjoy 30% off glasses of wine, beer & most appetizers (Mon – Fri / 2pm – 6pm) + $2.00 tacos on Wednesday/Thursday during happy hour. The hotel also offers WIFI throughout the property, so it was nice to be able to plug in my laptop & work over coffee or cocktail.
The bar is open Sunday-Thursday from 9am-11pm | Friday-Saturday from 9am-1am
The food was DELISH at Cafe Tranquilo. I can’t express this enough. We had breakfast, lunch + dinner & each time we were impressed with the quality & quantity of our servings. For breakfast, I fancied the Chilaquiles & Chorizo Con Huevos. My husband enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros & Ribeye with Eggs. Here’s another thing: DON’T miss out on their Luxe Coffee (served hot or cold) & served in a clear glass. The coffee served here is amazing.
You really can’t go wrong with anything on the lunch & dinner menu either. We invited family from Scottsdale to come down for a little reunion. We all ordered something different & all enjoyed our plates.
The restaurant is open from 7am – 10pm daily | Tip: Don’t forget Breakfast Vouchers for Breakfast from 7am-10am & happy hour (Mon – Friday) from 2pm-6pm.
The Rooftop Sky Deck
Here’s our favorite part of the the Clarendon in Phoenix Arizona – It’s Rooftop Bar/Lounge! They’ve been listed as “One of the Best Things about Phoenix”, “Best Hang Out”, “Best Date Spot” & “Best Rooftop for Events”. The rooftop offers some of the best 360 degree views of Phoenix + the sunrise/sunsets are extremely beautiful. The silhouette of the Mountains & Palm Trees as the sun is setting makes a picture perfect setting. The rooftop is open from 4pm-10pm daily & offers live jazz Thursdays & Fridays.
Pssst, birdie told us they also offer wine hour from 5pm – 6pm daily in the lobby. I’ve also heard they offer yoga & bingo from time to time along with other fun events. If you are curious, you can check out their calendar here.
(Disclaimer: Contact the hotel in advance to check on their current offerings as what I’ve mentioned is subject to change)
To wrap up this Blog Post, Trevor & I were very pleased with our stay at the Clarendon in Phoenix Arizona. We would definitely love to return in the future. We give this boutique hotel a big 5 star. We can tell the owners put of a lot of heart into the design & offerings. The staff is courteous & helpful + it’s the perfect place for anyone looking for a fun & trendy escape. I mean, what more could you ask for?
