Breakfast in Paris

Breakfast in Paris

Breakfast in Paris is much different than breakfast back home. Being half French, I’ve grown accustomed to my grandmother’s morning quiche and pastries, but there is something to be said about eating breakfasts in Paris.  First of all, you won’t find a Denny’s on street corners nor will you run into the infamous golden arches. What you will find are a mixture of Frugal and Fancy eateries. Enjoy coffee and macarons in immaculate Paris courtyards or in quaint street cafes serving mostly coffee and croissants. Either way, indulging in French food is definitely one of my favorite pastimes. While not the healthiest, it certainly offers taste and simplicity at its best.

Le Petit Dejeuner – Little Breakfasts

Here’s one thing I know for sure, in paris most people are not particular about breakfasts, as much as they are about coffee over conversation and/or Le Petit Dejeuner (little breakfasts). Quintessential breakfasts in Paris would consist of a cup of coffee, a fresh piece of fruit, eggs, fromage blanc, or a pastry while reading a newspaper and/or people watching. It really is quite refreshing…

Pastries, Pastries and More Pastries!

The proliferation of patisseries in Paris will satisfy anybody’s sweet tooth. Almost every cafe I visited had a warm and fresh assortment of morning pastries. From pain au chocolate, to croissants with nuts and raisins – I found myself at the mercy of these bakeries. Try walking passed one and the smell alone will put you in a spell. You will be walking quickly toward the counter with three euros in hand. I speak from experience but I also have a sweet tooth. Yes, the pastries tend to be quite delicieux and affordable. I guess you could call these bakeries the frugal side of Paris.

Ce’st La Vie En Paris!

Breakfasts in Paris are tasty but I find it’s more about the experience. Unlike it’s American counterpart, coffees are not sipped on the go, breakfasts are not wrapped in Mcdonalds Monopoly paper and restaurants are not crowded with people and noise. In Paris, be sure to sip your coffee slow, eat a delicious Petit Dejeuner, read a newspaper, enjoy the scenery around you and turn on your inner Parisienne.

Breakfast differs base on the location one finds him/herself. Personally I have no specific diet for breakfast, I take whatever I feel like taking. But more often I go with coffee and egg. I think the pattern in Paris is cool. It’s good to know.

Have you been to the little cafe called Le Vrai Paris. It was the best brunch I have ever had in my life! And the best part is that it is really cheap and surprisingly affordable. You get so much beautiful food. Fresh pancakes, eggs, granola yoghurt, bacon, fruit, fresh coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice! I swear you will not regret it.
