My husband and I chose a new beach spot this weekend at Aliso Beach for sunset. It was the perfect choice being that there was a skin boarding competition going on. Photographers, vendors, professional skin boarders, spectators and aspiring competitors, lined the beach to watch the competition. I’ve witnessed surf competitions before but I found skin boarding to be equally as entertaining to watch. Seeing the guys watch the swells from the sand, choose their wave, perfectly time when to run toward the water and catch the wave so perfectly was really intriguing! There were kids as young as five years old competing and we were fortunate to have stumbled upon the event.
I laid down my sarong and gazed out into the greenish blue water. The waves were bigger than I was used to and the weather was hot! I had every intention of going for a swim, but after seeing the waves, I figured I’d sit on the beach and eat some watermelon lol. Luckily I packed my sunscreen and was entertained by all the fun surrounding me. Seagulls circled us and did everything they could to steal our munchies. It was fun catching a few of them on our camera. Check out some pix below –
